The Bichon Frise was introduced in the United States around 1950. They now rank 30th among the 143 breeds registered by the AKC, which enrolled 12,199 new Bichons in 1996.

 

The bichon's history has kept it in close association with people. Which is why the Bichon dog breed has become a calm disposition and a cooperative personality as long as they are given patience and affection from their owner. Bichon Frise breeders have nutured a dog breed that is gentle enough for children and amiable around other dogs. The bichon frise is strong enough to walk for long periods of time without tiring. Bichon Frise dogs also easily makes friends with most other dog breeds.

 

Though the Bichon Frise breeders will tell you, owning a Bichon Frise requires patience and dog obedience training, there are not many breeds more adaptable. The bichon is hardy and doesn't have a tendency for illnesses.
